Pedestals and display stands: the foundation for showcasing a piece

The pedestal helps position each piece at the right height and gives it greater visibility. In the case of sculptures, it allows them to be appreciated more fully and highlights their forms. At Canica, we offer handcrafted pedestals and display stands in different formats and materials, designed both for pieces from our collection and for artworks you already have at home.

Criteria for choosing the right pedestal

The height of the pedestal will depend on the piece and where you want to place it. As a general guideline, the centre of the sculpture should be approximately at eye level, between 140 and 160 cm from the floor. Wrought iron has a visually lightweight appearance, while wood adds warmth. For display stands, make sure the base is at least as wide as the frame and that the angle allows the artwork to be viewed clearly. Finally, make sure the pedestal is stable once the piece has been placed on it.
